      Nowadays the neighborhood shopping center plays the more important role than ever before in the functions of community, especially in the convenient dailylife of dwellers.
      This thesis reviewed the types of shopping centers, the characters of neighborhood shopping center and the locational and functional principles of shopping center site planning. And analizing the 16 existing neighborhood shopping centers in the western residential area of Daejeon City and identifying the problems in them, it proposed the strategies of planning and improving shopping centers on the basis of the findings.
