초기 청소년의 스트레스 변화유형에 따른 심리사회적 적응 = Stress Change Patterns and Psychosocial Adjustment in Early Adolescents

The present study was conducted to examine the stress change patterns and their relations to psychosocial adjustment in Korean early adolescents. This study utilized the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS) data which was developed by the Korea Institute to explore longitudinal developmental tendencies among Korea adolescents. Analyses were performed on a total of 2,128 adolescents(1,101 male, 1,027 female) who completed the wave 1 to wave 5 survey. Measures included stress, self-esteem, social support, and delinquent behaviors. Early adolescents in the sample demonstrated increase in their stress levels during the period of 5 waves. The cluster analysis identified four significantly differential trajectories of stress: Consistently Low Group; Slight Decrease Group; Increase Group; Consistently High Group. Repeated measures MANOVA indicated that these stress change patterns were differentiated by early adolescents‘ self-esteem, social support, and deviation experience. Results were discussed in terms of individual differences among Korean early adolescents in their socio-psychological adjustment to change patterns of stress.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 초기 청소년들이 경험하는 스트레스 변화유형을 알아보고, 이러한 변화유형에 따른 심리사회적 적응 특성을 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 분석을 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 수행한 한국청소년패널조사의 초4패널 1차년도(초4)~5차년도(중2) 자료를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 다섯 측정시기 조사에 모두 참여한 2,128명(남 1,101명, 여 1,027명)의 청소년들이었다. 각 측정시기에 평가된 스트레스의 변화 양상을 알아보기 위해 군집분석을 실시한 결과, 시간 경과에 따라 낮은 스트레스 수준을 지속적으로 유지하는 집단, 약간 감소한 집단, 증가한 집단, 높은 스트레스 수준을 지속적으로 유지하는 집단의 네 집단으로 구분되는 것이 적절한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 초기 청소년들의 스트레스 변화유형에 따른 심리사회적 적응의 차이를 알아보기 위해 반복측정 다변량 분산분석을 실시한 결과, 지속적으로 높은 스트레스 수준을 유지하는 집단은 지속적으로 낮은 스트레스 수준을 유지하거나 약간 감소한 집단에 비해 자아존중감과 부모 및 학교친구애착 등 사회적 지지 하위변인에서 보다 부정적인 특성을 보였으며, 일탈경험의 수준도 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 초기 청소년의 스트레스 변화유형에 따른 심리사회적 적응양상의 차이가 있으며, 따라서 이들의 스트레스 변화유형에 맞는 적절한 상담개입 통해 부적응을 예방할 수 있음을 시사한다.
