러시아는 팽창국가인가? : 서구의 대 러시아 적대 이미지에 대한 비판적 분석

For centuries Russia has figured an expansionist state in the collective consciousness of Western civilization and the policies of its political leaders. Russia's territorial expansion in history has made the West keep in mind the enemy image against Russia. Basically an image refers to a set of beliefs or to the hypotheses and theories that an individual or group convinces as valid. An image includes both experience-based knowledge, and values or beliefs about desirable behaviors. When these individual images are shares within a group, they become stereotyped.
In order to examine the enemy image against Russia in the West. I analyze the Post-Soviet Russia's concept of territory/boundary and those policies. The reality of the West's enemy image against Russia is ascertained by NATO expansion toward the Eastern-Central Europe and shaking Russia. The West has not supported Russia's transitional process actively after the USSR's disintegration. All these things are based on the enemy image and perception.
To overcome the West's transcendental enemy image, this article took a method of the phenomenological reduction(Epoche). Through these processes, I stand not the observer's subjective position but the actor's perspective and describe Russia as her purest form(essence). In sum, this study is founded upon phenomenological approach to identify the West's enemy image against Russia. I put an importance on phenomenological reinterpretation, which is free from misunderstanding and prejudice. In conclusion, I emphasize Russia is not an expansionist state.
