Purpose : The purpose of this study was to explore the level of knowledge, attitude and performance of infection control among nurses in long-term care facilities.
Methode : Participants in this study were the nurses at long-term care facilities in D, K area. The number of subjects was 108, and the data were collected by using self-report questionnaires from April 12 to 28, 2017. T-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson’s correlation coefficients were used to analyze the collected data.
Result : The average scores of knowledge, attitude and performance of nurses were 13.04 out of 15 in knowledge, 4.87 out of 5 in attitude and 4.46 out of 5 in performance. There were significant positive correlations between knowledge and attitude and between attitude and performance.
Conclusion : Findings from this study provide valuable information regarding the level of knowledge, attitude and performance of infection control among nurses in long-term care facilities. Considering nurses play important roles in infection control, effective guidelines and education programs for infection control tailed to long-term care facilities need to be developed and implemented.
