The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of Gyung-Rak massage and routine physical activity (walking) on their anthropometric measurements, %body fat, and blood lipid profile. 12 obese women were randomly assigned to 2 groups: one was massage group (n=6), the other massage + walking (n=6). Gyung-Rak massage was performed for 90 min. per time, 3 times per week during 8 weeks in all groups. Walking was performed for 60 min. per time, 3 times per week during 8 weeks in only massage + walking group. Anthropometric measurements were practiced and blood sample for lipid profile analysis were collected at 1st week (start), 4th week after start, 8th week after start. Comparing with those at 1st week, body weight, %body fat, WHR, BMI, and total cholesterol at 8th week were significantly decreased in massage + walking group. The same tendency was shown in massage group. A significant difference was shown between both groups (p<.05). Especially Gyung-Rak massage was more effective during the first 4 weeks than during the last 4 weeks.
