In the rapidly changing modern society, self-leadership is considered as a basic refinement, which should be gained by all members. Especially, for university students, who would enter the society soon, it works as a factor influencing career planning and selection. As considering this importance, in this study, it was tried to set the goal on the influence of self-leadership to career development competency and career exploration behavior and process it. Followings are subjects of the study for completing this goal.
Firstly, are there differences among self-leadership followed by general features, career development competency and career exploration behavior? Secondly, what is the relationship among self-leadership of university students, career development competency and career exploration behavior? Thirdly, what is the influence of self-leadership of university students to career development competency? Fourthly, what is the influence of self-leadership of university students to career exploration behavior?
As targeting 300 students of D special college in capital area, the survey was carried out for completing these subjects. As results, 84.6% collect rate was showed and materials of 254 persons were collected. Among collected materials, if only 1 question wasn't replied or if it wasn't replied honestly, it was trying to delete them. So, total 213 questionnaires without 41 were used for final analysis. As using SPSS WIN 18.0, materials collected from this study were analyzed.
As results, firstly, if the difference among self-leadership followed by general features of university students, career development competency, and career exploration behavior, in the level of self-leadership of university students, there was significant difference, and in career development competency, as following majors, there were significant difference of self-understanding and the efficacy, using relationship. In career exploration behavior, as following majors, there was significant difference of exploration area on oneself.
Secondly, if the relationship among self-leadership of university students, career development competency and career exploration behavior is examined, in all areas without the efficacy of decision making on career development competency, self-leadership of university students had positive relationship and it also had positive relationship with career exploration behavior.
Thirdly, if the influence of self-leadership of university students to career development competency and career exploration behavior is examined, behavioral strategy, one of low rank factors of self-leadership influenced all areas of career development competency positively and cognitive strategy also influenced all areas of it positively, without the efficacy of decision making.
Fourthly, behavioral strategy, one of low rank factors of self-leadership influenced all areas of career exploration behavior positively without the exploration on jobs, and cognitive strategy influenced all areas of it positively.
On the basis of these results, following implications are induced. Because self-leadership, career exploration behavior, and career development competency have positive relationship, it is required to extend the education such as opening a subject for improving self-leadership of university students, who would enter the society soon, operating consultation programs for improving self-leadership. Moreover, it is also required to provide systems such as a hiring system for interns, which suggests planning and selecting the career after visiting the real work site directly or experiencing it, the practice for work experience, and so on. These things are all helpful for improving self-leadership, career development competency and career exploration behavior.
