국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 작품은 본인의 석사 졸업연주회에서 연주된 곡으로 연세대학교 음악대학의 학생들로 구성된 Recital Choir 가 연주하였다.
본 연구는 Franz Joseph Haydn의 “Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo”를 통하여 하이든의 미사음악 작곡 기법과, 음악적 특징들을 파악하여 효과적인 연주를 준비하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다.
I 장에서는 하이든이 살았던 고전주의 시대(Classic Period)의 교회음악과 이 작품의 특징에 대해 간단히 서술하였고 이 작품을 연구하기 위한 방향과 범위를 설정한다. II 장에서는 하이든의 생애와 그의 미사음악에 대해서술하였다; 1. F. J. Haydn의 생애, 2. F. J. Haydn의 미사음악. III 장에서는이 작품의 개괄적인 내용을 밝히고, 각 악장별 작품을 악보와 함께 설명하였다; 1.작품개관, 2.악장별 작품연구 1)Kyrie, 2)Gloria, 3)Credo, 4)Sanctus, 5)Benedictus, 6)Agnus Dei. 마지막으로 IV 장에서는 지금까지의 내용을 정리하며, 하이든의“Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo”가 더욱 효과적으로 연주될 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다.

“Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo” was performed by the graduate Recital Choir from the college of Music, Yonsei Univer sity, in partial fulfillment of my Master's degree in choral conducting.
Main objective of the study is to properly under stand the style and characteristics of Haydn's Masses through the analy sis of “Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo” and consequently to provide effective performance preparation.
Chapter I introduces the general trend of church music during the Clas sical Period and includes brief introduction of the dissert ation. Study scope and direction of the dissertation are also discus sed. In Chapter II, Haydn's Masses and his life are described; 1. Life of F. J. Haydn, 2. Masses music of F. J. Haydn. Chapter III overviews the work and explains each movement with the musical examples ; 1. Overview, 2. Study of each movement 1)Kyrie, 2)Gloria, 3)Credo, 4)Sanctus, 5)Benedictus, 6)Agnus Dei. Finally, Chapter IV concludes with summary and guidelines for the efficient performance of the “Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo”
