수출주도형 성장과 수입유발구조-정보통신기기산업을 중심으로 = Export-led Growth Model and Import Requirements in IT industry of Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국에서의 수출주도형 성장의 구조변화를 특화구조의 집중화와 그에 따른 수입유발정도에 초점을 두고 분석하였다. 국내수요증가에 따른 수입유발이 수요제약으로 작용하지 않는 한, 수출주도형 성장은 가능하다는 ‘Thirlwall의 법칙’의 문제의식을 산업별로 실증하고 있다. 즉, 한국의 1997년 경제위기 이후 특화구조는 더욱 집중화되고, 이러한 집중화에 수반되어 수출에 특화된 산업의 수입유발도 현격히 증대되지만, 상대적으로 빠른 수출증가속도가 성장을 가능하게 하였다는 것을 보여주고 있다. 특히 정보통신산업의 ‘Harrod-Thirlwall 승수’를 구해보면, 수입의 국내수요탄력도를 이용한 산업별 수입유발과 산업연관분석을 이용한 산업별 수입유발 모두 동일한 분석결과를 보여주고 있다.

This paper studies the structure change of the export-led growth in Korea focused on the linkage between the concentration of specification structure and the import requirements. Following the so called "Thirlwall's law", but for the demand constraint by import requirements of increasing domestic demand, the export-led growth model can be worked. This empirical paper extends the implication of Thirlwall's law to the industry level. Since Economic Crisis of 1997 in Korea, the concentration of specification structure has resulted in increasing import requirements, but the relative high growth rate of export have made the export-led growth work. 'Harrod-Thirlwall' multipliers of IT industry, specially, are robust to both the regression analysis of import function and the input-output analysis
