청소년의 외향적 성격특성과 사회기술과의 관계에서 자기조절능력의 매개효과 = Mediating Effects of Self-regulatory Ability on the Relationship between Adolescent`s Extraversion and Social Skills

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the extraversion, self-regulatory ability, and social skills in a sample of adolescents, and to investigate the mediation effects of self-regulatory ability on the relationship between extraversion and social skills. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 182 middle school students and 87 high school students, totaling 269 middle and high school students, were selected as participants. The findings of the study indicated as follows. First, when a correlation analysis was carried out to explore the relationship of their extraversion, self-regulatory ability and social skills, it`s found that higher extraversion, better self-regulatory ability, led to better social skills. Second. the results revealed that self-regulatory ability of the teens had a significant mediation effect on the relationship between their extraversion and social skills. Third, bootstrapping were utilized to test whether the self-regulatory ability of the teens would have any significant impact on the relationship between their extraversion and social skills. Finally, implications of the study findings and suggestions for future research are addressed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 외향적 성격특성과 자기조절능력이 사회기술에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 확인하는 것이다. 구체적으로 청소년의 외향적 성격특성과 사회기술과의 관계에서 자기조절능력의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 서울과 경기 지역의 중·고등학교 3곳에 재학 중인 학생 300명을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문지를 배부하였고, 이중 불성실하다고 판단되는 31부를 제외한 중학생 182명(남학생 85명, 여학생 97명과 고등학생 87명(남학생 40명, 여학생 47명) 등 총 269명을 대상으로 상관분석과 회귀분석을 이용하여 설문자료를 분석하였다. 연구의 결과, 첫째, 청소년의 외향적 성격특성이 높을수록, 자기조절능력이 높을수록, 사회기술이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 외향적 성격특성과 사회기술과의 관계에서 자기조절능력이 유의하게 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 청소년의 자기조절능력은 외향적 성격특성이 사회기술에 미치는 영향을 강화시킴을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과의 의의를 논의하였고, 후속연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.
