타틀린과 가보: 구축주의와 구축 조각의 미학적 차이 = Tatlin and Gabo: Aesthetic Differences of Constructivism and Constructed Sculpture

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 1912년 초에 등장한 파블로 피카소의 콜라주에 잠재해 있던 현대적 조각의 가능성을 규명한 2023년 연구의 후속 논문으로서, 피카소의 입체주의 구축을 원천으로 해서 블 라디미르 타틀린과 나움 가보가 서로 다르게 발전시킨 조각의 실제를 검토하고 양자의 미학 적 차별성을 정립하는 것이 목표다. 이를 위해서 먼저, 입체주의가 어떻게 저 먼 러시아에서 그 토록 빨리 또 정확하게 이해되고 수용되었는지에 대한 고찰을 진행하고, 그다음에는 타틀린과 가보가 1910년대 중반에 입체주의로부터 각각 발전시킨 특유의 개념, 즉 물질문화(material culture)와 입체기하학(stereometry)에 입각한 작업을 살펴본다. 물질문화와 입체기하학은 이 후 구축주의와 구축 조각의 토대가 되는데, 결론에서는 양자의 미학적 차이를 제시한다.

This paper is a follow-up study to a 2023 article that elucidated the potential of modern sculpture latent in Pablo Picasso’s collages that emerged in early 1912. It aims to examine the new practices of sculpture developed differently by Vladimir Tatlin and Naum Gabo based on Picasso’s Cubist construction and to establish the aesthetic differences between the two. To this end, I first examine how Cubism was understood and accepted so fast and correctly in far and away Russia, and then examine the works based on the unique concepts that Tatlin and Gabo each developed from Cubism in the mid-1910s, namely material culture and stereometry. Material culture and stereometry later became the foundations of Constructivism and constructive sculpture, and the aesthetic differences between the two are presented in the conclusion.
