The purpose of this study is to establish the relationship structure between elderly cultural welfare, self-elasticity, and psychological well-being based on previous studies and theories as a research model and empirically verify the effect of sub-factors of elderly cultural welfare on the elderly's psychological well-being. The purpose of this study is to find ways to improve the elderly's free use of cultural welfare by verifying the mediating effect of self-elasticity in relations, to find ways to increase the elderly's self-elasticity, and to present suggestions for enhancing psychological well-being.
The research question is: First, how does the use of computers and internet in cultural welfare for the elderly, culture and arts, satisfaction in leisure activities, and counseling for the elderly affect psychological well-being? Second, what effect does the elderly cultural welfare have on self-elasticity? Third, how does self-elasticity affect the elderly's psychological well-being? Fourth, in the relationship between elderly cultural welfare and psychological well-being, will self-elasticity act as a mediating effect?
The subject of this study is an online questionnaire for two months from October 20 to December 20, 2019 for senior citizens aged 60-80 who use Senior Citizens' Hall, Senior Welfare Center, Senior College, and Cultural Center located in 4 districts in Seoul. 370 copies were distributed, and 332 copies were used for analysis, excluding 18 copies with poor or unreliable responses.
Research tools were used to measure cultural welfare, self-elasticity, and psychological well-being. Analysis methods include frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, multiple regression analysis, and mediation effect verification. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 22.0 program.
The summary of the research results is as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the effect of elderly cultural welfare on psychological well-being, when the lower variables of elderly cultural welfare such as computer and internet use, culture and arts, and elderly counseling are high, the elderly's psychological well-being is high, but leisure activity satisfaction is the elderly's psychological well-being. It has not been shown to affect well-being. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect of elderly cultural welfare on self-elasticity, when the lower variables of elderly cultural welfare such as computer and internet use, leisure activity satisfaction, and elderly counseling are high, the elderly's self-elasticity is high, but culture and arts have an effect on self-elasticity. I could see that it wasn't crazy. Third, as a result of analyzing the effect of self-elasticity on the elderly's psychological well-being, it was found that the elderly’s psychological well-being increased when self-elasticity was high. Fourth, as a result of analyzing the mediating effect of self-elasticity in the relationship between elderly cultural welfare and psychological well-being, it can be seen that the mediating effect of self-elasticity in the relationship between elderly cultural welfare and psychological well-being has a positive effect. From the above research results, it was confirmed that the elderly cultural welfare and self-elasticity as important factors influencing the psychological well-being of the elderly are very influential variables.
Based on the research results, the following suggestions were made. First, it suggests that the intervention of the strong point of self-elasticity can be more effective in the intervention to increase the psychological well-being of the elderly, and raises the importance of the transition from social welfare practice to the strong point of view. Second, by developing various Internet contents for the elderly and allowing them to easily access lifelong education programs, there is a plan to increase the opportunity for the elderly to participate in society, which can be called the marginalized class of cultural welfare, and to reduce the gap between generations with the younger generation. The need to be prepared is raised. Third, it suggests the necessity of finding a way to improve psychological well-being through social relations by providing opportunities for social participation and service. Fourth, in order to prepare for an aging society, the need to maintain cultural welfare centered on the control tower that manages the elderly's cultural welfare with a mid- to long-term policy is raised. Fifth, there is a need to seek out policy measures for elderly cultural welfare so that services that understand the characteristics of the elderly can be provided.
