We cannot express to you the joy of our heart in having it in our power to proclaim to you the Jubilee lately granted by his Holiness, Pius VIII, the Prince of Pastors, to the whole Catholic world. Raised to the Supreme Apostleship by the goodness of God, and fully sensible of the immense weight and responsibility, as well as of the dangers and difficulties attached to go exalted a station, he addresses himself to all his beloved children in Christ, and in a suppliant manner, entreats them to unite and obtain for him an increase of strength and fortitude, without which, all his exertions as well as that solicitude for all the Churches which presses upon him, would be fruitless.
