The occupational categorization within public institutions serves as an authoritative point of reference for prospective or recent graduates who have completed their studies in tourism-related fields. To align with applicable laws and regulations, this information must transparently list current job titles that mirror contemporary trends. However, due to the challenges in precisely delineating the scope of the tourism sector, historical and present job titles continue to be used interchangeably, even in official data from public entities. This study scrutinizes the designations of tourism-linked occupations outlined in the 7th edition of the Korean Standard Occupational Classification by Statistics Korea, as specified in Notice No. 2017-19 issued on July 3, 2017. Drawing upon the existing job titles delineated in the prevailing Tourism Promotion Act, terms and appellations necessitating adjustments to align with the Act were identified.. This process considers job classifications within the Korean Standard Classification of Occupations, culminating in the proposal of a harmonized and unified classification system. Consequently, a systematic alignment can be achieved in the Tourism Promotion Act of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the classification of tourism-related occupations in the Korean Standard Occupational Classification maintained by the National Statistical Office.
