There are many gender differences in the psychosocial characteristics among problem drinking. Standard treatment program are based on male process of problem drinking. The treatment program to be effective, they must be sensitive to women's psychosocial characteristics surrounding the problem drinking. This article sets forth the pretreatment assessment framework which consists of women centered assessment contents. The social worker and clients(or family) work together in the application process of the pretreatment assessment framework through the case study method. Four case study summaries are illustrated and the eight categories are emerged out of the data.
Recommended intervention planning includes women- only therapy groups, prevention program, motivational interviewing, assertion training, parenting, relapse prevention, and outreach etc. The evaluation outcomes are also Illustrated. The author suggested that the professionals as well as community gatekeepers need training program to provide services appropriate to gender difference based on the assessment result.
