흉선의 증식 및 흉선종의 조직학적 고찰과 임상적 의의 = Histopathologic Study of Thymic Hyperplasia and Thymoma and Interrelationship with Clinical Feature

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 8년간 부산백병원에서 흉선절제술에 의해 절제된 31예의 흉선에서 조직학적인 진단과 임상적 증세와의 관련성에 대하여 검토하였다.

The study was done on 31 cases of thymus which were resected due to mediastinal mass and or myasthenia gravis, from june 1979 to june 1987 in Pusan Paik Hospital.
The results were summarized as following.
1) There were 9 cases of thymoma, 17 cases of follicular hyperplasia, 1 case of thymic cost and 4 cases of normal histology.
2) There were 8 males and 23 females. Four out of 9 cases of thymoma were male of above 40 years of age, and 14 out of 17 cases of thymic hyperplasia were female of under 50 years of age.
3) Myasthenia gravis was observed in 5 out of 9 cases of thymoma and in all cases of thymic hyperplasia and normal thymus.
4) There were moderate varieties of size and shape of lymph follicles in the thymus of follicular hyperplasia accompanying mild and focal infiltration of plasma cells and eosinophils.
5) There was a focal infiltration to the adjacent tissue observed grossly in 5 out of 9 cases of thymoma. But there was no histologically malignant cells observed.
6) There were 2 positive cases of 9 thymoma stained with EMA by PAP method which indicated epithelial nature of the thymoma.
