<AbsText> THESE two books are largely complementary. The first is a lucid and intelligently critical statement of a psychiatrist's approach to his material, the second a short textbook of the physiology of mind. They are both well-suited to students, but it is the educating public which I had in mind when I read them--educating, not educated: the people who write press articles and book reviews, preach sermons, teach children, or theorise publicly on any subject which brings them into touch with psychology or psychological medicine. </AbsText>
