서부경남에 전승된 제주도 <해녀 노 젓는 소리>의 음악적 고찰 = Musical Study on the Woman Diver's Rowing Song Transmitted to Western Kyeong Nam

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The woman diver's rowing song is the song that woman divers from Jeju island have sung with rowing when they go to and come back from work. This song has also been transmitted to the main land. This paper analyzes the song that was transmitted to the main land and compares it with the song in Jeju island. The results of this study are summarized as follows.The melodic phrases of this song begin with two specific types of melodies that are similar, and ends with three types of cadences, which is a characteristic of this song. This song consists of an opening and several periods. The melody of the opening appears with modifications in the following periods. The melodies of melodic phrases are going down for the most part. The mode of this song is basically re-mode, but sometimes it is changed to do-mode. The musical range of this song is usually an octave, and the rhythm is six-eights time.The song transmitted to the main land is similar to the song in Jeju island. But re-mode is not kept in the song of the main land as much as in the song of Jeju island. It is probably because the song transmitted to the main land is affected by popular songs which ends with do rather than by the folk mode Menari-tori.
