전통문양을 활용한 신표현주의적 조형 해석 -‘도철문(饕餮紋)’을 중심으로- = Neo-Expressionist Artworks Interpretation using Traditional Patterns -Focusing on ‘Taotie Pattern’-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the early 1980s, Western European Neo-Expressionism exhibited a distinct personality within the realm of Postmodernism art, particularly emphasizing the original depiction of the human inner world. The researchers' study of form can be interpreted as a modern form of Neo-Expressionism that utilizes the traditional motif of ‘Taotie Pattern’, based on the form of dragons, are representative traditional motifs from the Shang and Zhou dynasties in ancient China. These patterns possess the symbolic meaning of ‘life’, ‘reincarnation’, and other representations of primitive civilization and ancient spirituality. By resonating with the researchers' themes, the ‘Taotie Pattern’ maximizes organic visual characteristics. The works of these researchers make possible the characteristics of the Neo-Expressionist image, such as disintegration, recombination, and symbolic image. In conclusion, the concept and expression of Neo-Expressionism are elevated to the researchers' unique modern artistic form, combining the researchers' thematic ‘Taotie Pattern’ with contemporary forms, thereby envisioning the feasibility of enhancing the new cultural value inheriting traditional art.
