Osteogenic sarcoma of the jaw is a rare malignant tumor in which osteoid is produced directly by malignant tumor cells. Jaw lesions typically occur with a peak in the fourth decade, about 10 - 15 years later on average and have better prognosis than osteogenic sarcoma of long bone.
The author reports a case of osteogenic sarcoma on the left mandibular body in a 83 years old male who is a edentulous state. His chief complaint is facial swelling with pain and tuberculosis has lasted past 1 year. Soft tissue mass size is about 2×3㎝. Radiographic features showed irregular bony destructive lesion and no definite metastasis, and microscopic features showed chondroblastic & osteoblastic mixed appearance.
