진지한 여가에서 작가로 성장한성인의 미술학습 과정에 대한 내러티브 탐구 = Narrative Inquiry about the Process of “Becoming Artists”: How do Adult Art Learners who Began Creating Art as Serious Leisure Activity, Become Artists?

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 내러티브 탐구를 통해 진지한 여가로서 미술창작 경험에서 출발하여 작가가 되어가는 과정을 분석했다. 내러티브 탐구 결과, 3인의 연구참여자들은 진지한 여가로서 미술을 추구하고 작가로 도약하는 과정 속에서 “기대와 흥미,” “탐색과 혼란,” “미술창작의 본질에 대한 고민과 탐구,” “변화와 적용”의 의미를 탐색할 수 있었다. 진지한 여가를 추구하는 과정을 통해 연구참여자들은 과거 미술학습에 대한 부정적 인식에서 벗어나고 “자기표현”과 “자기이해”의 과정을 경험했다. 미술의 본질과 고유성을 인식하고 자기표현의 의미를 강화하는 노력은 그들의 삶에 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 진지한 여가에서 출발해 작가가 된 3인의 미술창작 경험이 미술교육에 주는 시사점으로는 첫째, 진지한 여가는 성인 학습자에게 미술 교과에 대한 부정적인 인식을 전환해 주는 촉매제 역할을 하였다. 둘째, 작가가 되기 위해 새로운 경로를 모색하고 다양한 분야에서 유입되는 현상을 미술교육 분야에서 주시해야 한다. 셋째, 미술 분야의 개방적 변화에 대응하기 위해 미술교육의 본질에 대한 재고가 필요한 시점이다.

Through narrative inquiry, this study understood the process of “becoming an artist” in the three research participants' who began creating art as a serious leisure activity and found its significance in art education. In three learner’s art learning process, the common meanings of “expectation and interest,” “exploration and confusion,” “contemplation and exploration of the essence of art creation,” and “change and application” were derived. Serious leisure changed research participants' negative perception of art learning in the past and further provided opportunities for “self-expression” and “self-understanding.” Efforts to recognize the essence and uniqueness of art and strengthen the meaning of self-expression have had a positive impact on life.
Through the research results, the implications for art education are as follows. First, serious leisure served as a catalyst to change adult learners' negative perception of art subjects. Second, in order to become an artist, we must seek new paths and adhere to the influx of phenomena from various fields from an art education standpoint. Third, it is time to reconsider the nature of art education to respond to open changes in the art field.
