The adsorption capacity of the cation saturated natural zeolite applied to the sewage obtained from a local dyeing industry was studied. The results of adsorption equilibrium concentration and adsorption rate measurements proved the saturated cation such as Ni^2+ and Ca^2+ to be better adsorbents than commercial active carbon. Particularly, the superiority of Ni^2+-zeolite was obvious when it was allowed to contact as much as 0.5% to the sewage. The comparative study of the experimental data brought us to the conclusion that the cations saturated on the natural zeolites seem acting important role as active sites on adsorption of organic compounds in dye sewage, proving surface active effect to be primary function of the adsorption .
