Mammal-like reptiles, simply defined as 'a reptile group resembling mammals', were the dominant terrestrial animals from Permian to Triassic period. Mammal-like reptiles have been considered as transitional forms between reptiles and mammals. However, abundant fossil remains were discovered recently and it make us to realize that they had their own peculiar characteristics and were not just transitional forms. This paper is proposed to review recent studies and understand their phylogenetic classification, anatomic characteristics, external appearance, and new species reported recently.
