대만 정씨(鄭氏)집단 휘하 관상(官商) 임인관(林寅觀) 일행의 조선 표착(漂着) 사건(1667)과 조선 조정의 대응

국문 초록 (Abstract)

16세기 말부터 동아시아 정세가 급변하였고, 17세기가 되자 서양 세력까지 동아시아로 들어왔다. 각국의 무역선이 당시 해상무역의 중심지였던 나가사키로 가는 도중 태풍이나 강한 조류에 휩쓸려 조선에 표류하였다. 임인관 일행의 표류 사건은 역사적으로 중요한 의의가 있다. 첫째, 조선이 명나라와의 관계를 단절한 후 발생한 최대 규모의 한인 표착 사건이다. 둘째, 정씨집단이 대만으로 철수한 후 일어난 첫 한인 표착 사건이었다. 셋째, 조선이 청·일 양국과 외교적 갈등을 겪은 직후에 일어난 사건이었다. 넷째, 임인관 일행이 조선 사회에 머무르며 남긴 영향력이 상당하였다. 이런 복합적인 요소로 인해 조선 조정은 사건 대응에 어려움을 겪었다. 기존 연구는 주로 이 사건을 조선 위주로 사건을 서술하여 임인관 일행의 특수성이나 당시 중국 정세를 함께 살피지 않았다. 본 연구는 임인관 일행 자체의 분석에 집중하여 이들 집단이 가진 특수성을 밝힐 것이다. 조선 조정의 대응 과정을 통해 임인관 일행의 처분 문제에 대해 예측해보고, 마지막으로 임인관 일행 사건 이후로 조선 조정에서 정씨집단 관련 정보수집을 강화해나가는 과정도 살필 것이다. 서울로 송환되는 과정에서 많은 조선인이 임인관 일행에게 관심을 가졌다. 유생과 관리들은 송환 결정을 철회하라는 상소를 올렸고, 조선 백성들의 집단적 기억에 깊은 영향을 미치는 등 민간에도 큰 반향을 일으켰다. 사건 종결 132년 후, 임인관 일행은 황조유민으로 지위가 격상되었지만, 이들의 정체성에 대한 논란은 여전히 남아있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

From the end of the 16th century, the situation in East Asia changed drastically, and by the 17th century Western powers had entered the region. At that time, many merchant ships on their way to Nagasaki, the center of maritime trade, were caught in typhoons and strong currents and drifted to Joseon. Lim In-Koan(林 寅觀) and his sailors also encountered a typhoon on their way to Nagasaki and were stranded in Joseon. This is a historically significant event. First, it was the largest Chinese stranding incident after Joseon severed ties with the Ming Dynasty. Second, it was the first Chinese stranded after the Zheng group retreated to Taiwan. Third, it occurred shortly after Joseon's diplomatic conflict with both the Qing and Japan. Fourth, the influence of Joseon society was considerable. These complex factors made it difficult for the Joseon government to respond to the incident. Existing research has mainly focused on the Joseon side of the story, without considering the specificity of Lim In-Koan's group or the Qing situation at the time. This study will focus on analyzing the group itself to reveal the uniqueness of the group. This paper will then examine the Joseon government's reaction to the group and speculate on its disposition, and finally this paper will examine the Joseon government's intensification of intelligence gathering on the Zheng group in the aftermath of the Lim In-Koan incident. During the process of repatriation to Seoul, many Joseon people became interested in the Lim’s group. Confucian scholars and officials appealed for the repatriation decision to be reversed, and the appeal was well received by the civilian population. Lim In-Koan and his group had a profound impact on the collective memory of the Joseon people. 132 years after the end of the case, the group was elevated to the status of Hwangjoyumin(皇朝遺民), but their identity remains controversial.
