고학력 중산층 여성의 모성 경험에 나타난 전환학습 과정 탐구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to explore the process and meaning of transformative learning on maternal experience in the feminist perspective in order to reveal that maternal experience, which is conceptualized as pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting, has transformation effects on thinking and power of solidarity by personal context. In-depth interviews with eight women in their early thirties were conducted and analyzed through the narrative research method to explore the change process they experience with their motherhood, its meaning, and characteristics as transformative learning. The following themes are addressed concerning the meanings of maternal experience as transformative learning. The results reveal that the process of transformative learning through maternal experience was restructured into four stages - cause of emotion and self-examination due to dilemma, critical evaluation and sharing it on existing assumptions, exploring alternatives and learning to plan new actions, and reintegration into transformed perspectives. The characteristics of transformative learning derived from maternal experience were transformation as identity change and the importance of holding environment that promotes transformation. This study will be helpful for lifelong learning to understand women’s experience by showing the process of entering the path of reflection and learning through maternal experience.
