This study has been performed to analyze impacts of birth order on socioeconomic status in older life. In this study, 234 subjects aged 60 or over were interviewed about impacts of their birth orders on socioeconomic aspects. In this study, the birth order did not show significant impacts on education, income, age at marriage, and number of children. However, there is a noticeable difference of educational level between the first-born subjects and later siblings, due to higher education levels among a few younger elders. In addition, there is a 10% gap in rate of married subjects because some of the younger subjects remarried. Overall in this study, it is observed that there is a significant impact of birth order on tenure. Majority of the first-born subjects were home owners by virtue of bequeath eligibility, and the rate of home owners was 50% higher than the second-born group.
