야구경기 내용에 관한 조사연구 : 뱃팅을 중심으로 Mainly on Batting Practices = A Study on Play of Baseball Game

An observation and analysis been made on the baseball games of Korean adult teams in the fall league of 1976. The teams and games we surveyed in the league for the purpose of this study are as follows;
Lotte Giant Team vs. The Korean Agricultural Cooperative Association(or KACA)
The Han-il Bank Team vs. The Korea Electric Company(or KEC)
Our survey and analysis made mainly on the battings and pitching practices and their qualities are summarized as follows;
1. 159 pitching balls were targetted for batting in the total. The breakdown of them are;
40 balls tried by Lotte Giant for batting by 28 level swings, 5 golf swings, 4 down swings and 3 bunts.
40 balls encountered by KACA with 30 level swings, 5 golf swings, 2 down swings and 3 bunts.
39 balls by the Han-il Bank with 27 levels, 7 golfs, 3 downs and 2 bunts.
40 balls by KEC with 26 levels, 6 golfs, 5 down swings and 3 bunts.
2. The styles of batting by the first men on the team's batting order were mostly in level swing form, that was tried 5 times by Lotte Giant 5, times by KACA, 6 times by Han-il Bank and 5 times by KEC. Other styles observed were 5 golf swings, 3 down swings and 2 bunts.
3. The total number of ball pitching was 484, that was allocated 114 pitchings to the Lotte, 131 to KACA, 131 to the Han-il and 108 to the KEC.
4. The table in below shows average number of pitching balls that have been battered by each participating team in one game by the type of ball, and also the styles of bat swinging that encountered.

5. The batting styles for successful hittin strikes are analized for each team as follows;
7 hittings by the Lotte; 5 level Swings, 1 down swings, and 1 bunt
5 hittings by the KACA; 5- levels
10 hittings by the Han-il Bank; 8 levels, 2 golfs
4 by the KEC; 3 levels, 1 golf
6. The batting styles to make foul balls are grouped for each team as follows;
18 fouls by the Lotte; 13 levels, 5 golfs
12 fouls by KACA; 9 levels, 2 golfs and 1 bunt
10 fouls by Han-il Bank; 7 levels, 3 golfs
13 fouls by the KEC; 10 levels, 2 golfs and 1 down swings.
7. The frequency and styles of sacrificing swings are counted for each team as follows;
4 swings by Lotte; 3 levels, 1 bunt
3 swings by KACA; 1 level, 1 golf and 1 bunt
4 swings by Han-il; 2 leves and 2 bunts
4 swings by KEC; 2 levels and 2 bunts.
