Vertebral fracture which is the most common complication of osteoporosis results in significant mortality and morbidity, such as prolonged and intractable pain and decreased pulmonary function. Vertebroplasty procedure is percutaneous injection of bone cement into a collapsed vertebra and it was recently introduced for treatment of painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture.
