Any kind of vegetables, as beans, peas, or vetches, if sown in conjunction with some kinds of grain, spring-rye, barley or oats, will yield a far more abundant crop than if the two were sown separately. It has long been known that leguminous plants, when sown among grain on a soil which is so dry that they could not have produced a crop planted by themselves, will yield well with no apparent diminution of the crop of gain.
