      SDR software structure is suggested to be divided into 4 levels, such as Waveform/Application, Service Architecture, Management Architecture, Computational Architecture by the SDR Forum, which is designed under the functional conception.
      SDR Software download is a technology to reconfigure terminals by software download over the air interface. SDR software download project is needed to carry out this work and the terminal can be reconfigured by the administrator after download.
      There are kinds of software downloading process. One is a method by using a SMART CARD which doesn't effect to the network but causes the user inconvenience and cost. The other way is a download by wireless network which costs less and doesn't need the user's additional management because of the immediate changing in software but has a possibility of error during the downloading.
      Software download protocol is consist of 9 steps, such as Initiation, Mutual Authentication, Encryption, Capability Exchange, Download Acceptance Exchange, Software Download and Integrity Test, Installation, In-Situ Testing, Non-repudiation Exchange.
      Software to be downloaded is classified into two categories. First is practicable code such as a reconstitution data in operating parameter and new radio interface and the second is Non-Radio software which doesn't have any connection with Radio.
      The software download scenario can have eight-sided according to the environment of download, changing time of software change and the central downloading body. The Reconfiguration manager has to perform each different function according to this scenario.
      I have designed a pilot system with the background from the prior studies. The download over the air, is initiated by the demand of users and download is proceeded through the wireless network, then the mode can be switched immediately.
      This pilot system, using Strong ARM-processor, includes minimized Linux operating system , download applications, is evaluated to be satisfied the requirements of users by providing the GUI interface of web browser. When users request new link interface through the web server, the information is sent to the reconfiguration module in the base station, then the download process is started. After download the reconfiguration of terminal is completed. If the linking message is transmitted, the wireless network begins to work.
      The pilot system is designed from the point of view of minimized download protocol, so many other functions need to be added.
