      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As part of work on a complete translation of Huang Tingjian’s poetry, I have been working on a commentary and translation of <Yanya>, one of his most influential poems, which not only influenced the Chinese poetry scene after the Northern Song dynasty, but also the literati of Korea’s Goryeo and Joseon dynasties, as well as Japanese scholars. Under the premise of including <Yanya> in the broader scope of Object-chanting poems, I conducted detailed commentaries on five major Changhua poems-<戱和答禽語>, <歲寒知松柏>, <次韻子瞻春菜>, <食笋十韻>, and <雙井茶送子瞻>- which were exchanged with news that had the most significant impact on Huang Tingjian’s poetics.
It is common to see the poem’s allusions to “Plants, flowers, insects, fish, animals” as a sanction, using the traditional technique of “To express one’s ambitions(託物言詩)” to convey the poet’s meaning. The five poems of Huang Tingjian’s <Yanya(演雅)> examined in this paper also exhibit this characteristic. It is believed that if further translations of related works are carried out, it will be possible to examine not only the poetry itself and the influence of Hwang Tingjian’s poetry, but also to broaden our understanding of the poetry of the Goryeo and Joseon periods in Korea. I hope that this paper can serve as a springboard for further research in the field.
