Innovation in digital technology throughout various industries has brought an upheaval not only in our everyday lives but also in art and in the viewers’ assessment methodology. Unlike conventional wall-framed drawings, interactive artworks are not subject to the time-space limitations due to presence of computer-aided multimedia.
This research discusses the viewer’s approach and adjustment to a body-based, not computer-based, interactive artwork with visual, audible, and touchable interfaces. These body-interfaces, distinct from other types, catalyze direct interaction with the viewers; and I reason such causation from a phenomenological perspective. I highlight direct cognitive responses via body-interfaces and reflect it in an interactive artwork via human tongues: Tongue Music. Lastly, I analyze information filtering process via aforementioned tongue-interface, and shed light on organic symbiosis between mankind and information in the prospective digital society.
