다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how to implement key competencies- based early childhood curriculum, focusing on the case of France which presents its successful model. French Educational Commission has specified ‘French key competencies-socle commun’ in 2005 and has started an key competencies-based educational reform to nurture capable person combined with key competencies required for a successful life through public educational system, in all domain of education; national curriculum, national evaluation system, and teacher education, etc.
The discussion on key competencies-based educational reform is related with the interest on whole-person education for a future successful life. It derived from the critiques on traditional education system, focusing on intellectual development and knowledge acquisition. And also the reflection on the limits traditional education system that can not cultivate the capable individuals that the future society requires.
Major finding in this study are as following; first, key competenciesbased early childhood curriculum reinforces the continuity of education. Second, it is adapted in each level of education, as flexible principle. Third, it brings a changes in overall educations.

본 연구는 최근 교육개혁을 통해 핵심역량 교육과정의 성공적 사례를 보이는 프랑스의 유아교육과정을 분석하여 시사점을 살펴보고자 한다. 프랑스는 2005년 법령을 통해 최근OECD가 규정한 핵심역량개념에 근거하여 프랑스 교육의 핵심역량인 ‘socle commun’을 발표하고 이를 모든 단계의 교육과정 구성의 기본원리로 적용하고자 하였다. 이는 교육과정뿐 아니라 교사교육 및 교육전반에 걸친 개혁으로 진행되었다.
핵심역량에 근거한 교육개혁은 미래의 성공적 삶을 위한 전인교육의 대한 관심과 연결된다. 이는 지적발달이나 지식습득에만 중점을 두는 전통 교육에 대한 비판에서 출발하여 그 한계를 극복하고 이를 통해 미래사회가 요구하는 능력을 갖춘 인간양성을 위한 것이다.
본 연구를 통해 얻어진 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 핵심역량 기반 유아교육과정은 교육의 연계성을 강화하는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 둘째, 핵심역량 기반 교육과정은 모든 단계의 교육에 적용되지만 각 단계별 교육목표에 따라 융통성 있는 적용이 가능하다는 점이다. 셋째, 핵심역량 기반 교육과정 개혁은 단지 교육과정만이 아니라 교육의 전 분야에 걸친 개혁으로 연결된다는 점이다.
