논리기반치료의 형이상학 = Metaphysics of Logic-based Therapy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the paper is to examine the metaphysics of logic-based therapy (LBT) by focusing the notion of logical justification. In section two I shall discuss four theses of the metaphysics of LBT. In section three I shall analyze the notion of logical justification by comparing the schemes of LBT and REBT and shall contend that the notion of causation cannot be a criterion of demarcating the two theories. And I shall suggest the teleological approach as a candidate for philosophical practice. In section four I shall discuss the poverty of metaphysics of LBT in the outer and inner level. I shall contend that the problems of our lives should be explicated at th social level as well as at the personal level and that the rational attitude to life cannot be understood as the logical attitude. Lastly, I shall point out that it is necessary to show why LBT is the best theory in explaining our emotional and behavioral problems. It is my conclusion that LBT locates itself at the border line between psychological therapy and philosophical counseling, so it failed in securing its identity so far.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 코헨(Cohen)이 제시한 논리기반치료(LBT)의 형이상학을 논리적 정당화 개념을 중심으로 비판적으로 검토한다. 2절에서는 논리기반치료의 형이상학을 구성하는 논제들을 소개하고 이어서 그 논제들이 어떻게 구체적으로 드러나는지를 검토할 것이다. 3절에서는 논리적 정당화를 검토한다. 합리적 정서 행동 치료(REBT)와 LBT의 설명 구조를 비교하고 이어서 인과 개념이 두 가지 이론을 구획하는 기준이 되기 어렵다는 점이 지적되고 아울러 폰 리히트(von Wright)가 제시한 목적론적 설명의 구조가 제시된다. 4절에서는 논리기반치료의 형이상학의 한계가 이론 외적 · 내적 차원에서 논의된다. 삶의 문제는 개인적 차원뿐만 아니라 사회적 차원에서 해명되어야 하는 데 LBT는 그 점을 제대로 수행하기 어렵다는 점, 삶에 대한 합리적 태도가 논리적 태도와 동일하지 않다는 점, LBT가 더 나은 이론인지를 보여주는 설명이 요청된다는 점이 지적된다. 심리치료와 철학상담의 중간자로서의 논리기반치료는 철학상담의 정체성을 확보하기에는 역부족이라는 점이 드러날 것이다.
