감성적 체험의 공유와 분할에 대한 고찰 - 장-마리 셰퍼와 자크 랑시에르의 예술론 - = Considerations on Sharing and Partitioning of Sensible Experience - Jean-Marie Schaeffer and Jacques Rancière on Art

국문 초록 (Abstract)

프랑스의 두 철학자 장-마리 셰퍼와 자크 랑시에르는 모두 작품이 체험에서, 더 정확하게 말하면 감성적 체험에서 온다는 테제에 동의한다. 그러나 둘은 체험 내의 어떤 기연이나 근거가 예술적 실천(즉 작품을 구상하고 제작하는 실천)을 불러들이는가에 대해서는 다른 입장을 취한다. 셰퍼는 감성적 체험 내의 미적 사실, 즉 주의력, 감정, 평가의 자원을 활용하는 체험된 사실이 작품의 기연이 된다고 보고 있고, 랑시에르는 감성적 체험의 역사적 짜임에 대한 비판적 재고가 작품의 기연이 되어야만 한다고 보고 있다. 둘은 이러한 서로의 입장에 대해 반론을 제기한 바 있지만 본고는 이 둘을 서로 상호보완관계에 놓고자 한다. 그 이유는 오늘날의 예술계와 현실이 두 관점 모두를 요청하고 있기 때문이다. 이에 아래 지면에서는 두 사람의 입장과 논쟁의 쟁점을 정리하고, 이어서 둘을 비교한 후 오늘날의 예술계와 현실에서 양자의 관점이 모두 필요한 부분들을 설명하도록 하겠다. 마지막으로 필자는 상이해보이는 둘의 철학적 입장이 사실은 서로 통합될 수 있고 통합적으로 이해되어야 한다는 것을 보이고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The French philosophers Jean-Marie Schaeffer and Jacques Rancière base their philosophy of art on the basic thesis that the work of art must be thought to be originating from sensible experience. But they diverge on what in sensible experience warrants a reason to initiate artistic practice. Whereas Schaeffer observes that the aesthetic facts emerging from sensible experience become such warrant, Rancière argues that critically rethinking one’s own sensible experience and its historical configuration ought to be such warrant. This paper attempts to put them in a mutually compatible relationship, despite their objections towards each other’s perspective. One clear reason for this is that today’s art world and reality call for both perspectives. I will first identify the problems dealt with by the two and introduce their debate. I will then proceed to compare their perspectives and explain why both must be called for with examples. Lastly, I will try to show that their respective positions can and must be integrated into one another.
