탈냉전 이후 한반도 문제에 대한 한국 대외정책의 '주도적 위상'과 그 가능성 = South Korea's Foreign Policy toward Korean Issues: The Feasibility for Independent Variable and Its Limits

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Related with South Korea’s foreign policy or North Korea policy, this study analyzed its position and level of impacts on international society to confirm the possibility of its operation as an independent variable in international relations. As consequences, this study could find out several meaningful results which can prove that Korea’s foreign policy or North Korea policy had sometimes played important roles such as an independent variable which had been negatively evaluated by the scholars of international relations. Secondly, the cases which indicate the essential roles and key positions of Korea’s policies in international relations, could be repeatedly found regardless of certain government or political leader. This article could confirm the same results from each case of Kim Young-sam, Kim Dae-jung, and Roh Moo-hyun governments. And thirdly, the policy issue where Korea could play a key role was not restricted within one area. This research could find the several cases at the diverse areas which showed Korea’s external policy equal to the independent variable in international relations.


Though with these findings and cases of this study, we cannot conceptualize Korea’s policy toward international society as a general position or role of an independent variable. At least we can say that Korea’s Foreign policy or North Korea policy could work as an independent variable.
