Manna CEA entered the agricultural field, which had been regarded as a declining industry in Korea. Manna CEA created new values by applying ICT convergence technology and demonstrated the true meaning of 'entrepreneurship'. The two young engineers jumped into agriculture industry based on advanced agricultural technologies such as aquaponics technology, which grow crops by liquid fertilizer of fish feces using special microorganisms, and environmental control farming method. The case of Manna CEA is also significant in that it is a typical example of the ideal combination of entrepreneurship based on high-tech technology and socially responsible management. The case of Manna CEA provides an opportunity to contemplate the vertical integration of startups and the creation of synergies with CVCs. The implications of this case are as follows. First, opportunities for start-ups can be found in various industries. Second, it is necessary to plan the level of vertical integration according to the strategic purpose from the beginning of the start-up. Third, it is necessary to seek opportunities to create synergy in the process of attracting investment from CVC.
