유아 및 초기 아동기 사교육의 문화주제 = 학습동기를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 유아 및 초기 아동기 아동을 대상으로 한 사교육의 문화주제를 탐구하기 위하여 수행되었다. 사교육의 문화주제는 과도한 수준의 사교육이 학습자의 학습동기에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 논의하였다. 이를 위해 유아 및 초기 아동기 자녀를 가진 어머니들과의 인터뷰를 수행하고 관찰기록을 수집하였다. 유아 및 아동 사교육의 문화주제는 ① 딜레마 : 공부 vs놀이, ② 합리화 : “얘는 괜찮아”, “우리 애는 진짜 안 하는거야”, ③ 습관: “지금부터 잡아줘야지”, ④ 욕망 : 일체적 부모-자녀 관계와 보상심리 그리고 달콤한 우월감, ⑤ 경쟁: “○○보다 잘해야 해”로 표현되었다. 어머니의 ‘욕망’을 근원으로 하는 ‘경쟁’위주의 사교육은, 자녀에게 학업 ‘습관’을 들인다는 미명으로 행해지고 있었다. 어머니들은 놀이와 공부의 ‘딜레마’속에서 어린 자녀에게 가해지는 사교육에 대해 고민하지만, 우리 아이만은 괜찮다는 ‘합리화’를 통해 사교육을 지속한다. 학습자의 동기가 고려되지 않은 부모에 의한 과도한 사교육은 학습자의 자율성과 자기결정성을 저해할 가능성이 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study aims to examine the cultural themes of private tutoring for children focusing on learning motivation. Observational records, structured or unstructured interviews with mothers of children and local materials were analyzed and interpreted. The cultural themes of private tutoring for children were ① Dilemma: “study vs play”, ② Rationalization : “My child is ok”, “My child does not study a lot”, ③ Habit: “cultivating a good habit from now on”, ④ Desire : “coessential parent-child relationship, compensation and self-glorification”, ⑤ Competition : “You must better than ○○”. Private tutoring of ‘competition’ based on mother’s ‘desire’ and ‘convience’ is enacted to form children’s ‘habit’. Mothers worry about the private tutoring of their children with `dilemma` of play and study, however they keep up with `rationalization` that my child is okay. Excessive private tutoring by parents could interfere the autonomy and self-determination of learner.
