This study aims to construct teaching and learning contents to vitalize gasa education. To this end, teaching and learning contents for each genre and musical piece were extracted, based on the plan of hierarchization and practical uses by musical compositions analyzed and organized through the previous study.
The ‘teaching and learning contents related to the traits of genres’ section, applicable to all pieces, consisted of appreciating while understanding the characteristics of gasa and appreciating while recognizing the start and order of songs. The ‘teaching and learning contents for the traits of each musical piece’ section included ‘appreciating while understanding the background and lyric of a song’ for all 12 gasa pieces as basics. Then, it was detailed by selecting one to five items such as singing according to the difficulty and usage of songs, appreciating, and liking with other school subjects.
The revision of textbooks is scheduled under the ‘2022 Revised Music Curriculum’, newly announced in December 2022, and writing is in progress. Beginning this study, it is hoped that detailed studies on teaching and learning contents for gasa will be continuously conducted so that it can be positioned as instructional song materials for secondary school.
