The exposition given by Jonathan Pointer, interpreter of the pious and devoted Steward, first missionary among the Wyandott Indians, of the term "mark," was, "take a stick and cut a notch in it," is an exposition, by the by, not the most barren which might be given of this term of attention. It is important that man's attention should be directed so as to chronicle events as they pass, whether these events take place in either of the kingdoms of the universe, the moral or the physical; that from the various data collected by this close and explicit attention, we might obtain definite notions of the will of that Being who ruleth in both.
