퍼포먼스 텍스트 구성을 위한 탈경계적 글쓰기 = Cross-Boundary Writing To Construct Performance Text

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Though performance writing or cross-boundary writing mediates theory and practice, it has been ignored among the theatre scholars and the practitioners until recent days. Most of the performance researches were focused on the theories of performance art, its analysis, and historical contextualization. This paper aims to explore the possibility how to construct and to analyze the performance theatre as a text. If performance theatre can be constituted with some pattern or textual networking, it assumes performance theatre includes parts of semantic field as well as aesthetic one. Here, performance writing or cross-boundary writing can provide a certain methodology for the performance theatre. To do this, this paper looks into the historical background of the early 20th century`s avant-garde art such as Futurism, Dadaism, and Surrealism. Then, it tries to reconstruct the methodology based on the other`s academic views. In this, the performativity and the materiality are found another essential to constitute the textual landscape in and out of the space. Also, the intertextuality or intratextuality is also found as another way to get near to the textual landscape crossing the disciplinary boundaries, video, visual art, architecture, movement etc. To develop and invent more textualities as the materials for performance writing would be the future for the performance studies.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

퍼포먼스 텍스트를 구성하는 것, 혹은 퍼포먼스 글쓰기를 실천하는 것은 실천과 이론을 매개하는 영역임에도 불구하고 퍼포먼스 연구에서 오랫동안 간과되어 왔다. 퍼포먼스에 대한 논의는 퍼포먼스에 관한 장르 이론, 개별 작품의 분석, 개별 작품을 범주화하여 맥락화함으로써 역사에 위치시키는 것에 대체로 집중되어 왔던 것이다. 본 논문의 의도는 퍼포먼스 연극이 텍스트로 구축되고 분석될 수 있는지의 가능성을 탐색하려는 것이다. 퍼포먼스 연극이 특정한 틀로 구성된다는 전제하에 그 방식을 접근하는 것은 퍼포먼스 연극이 미학적인 차원을 넘어 기호학적 측면을 일부 수용한다는 사실을 함축한다. 여기서 ``퍼포먼스 글쓰기/탈경계적 글쓰기``는 퍼포먼스 텍스트를 구성하는 실천적 방법과 전략을 제시할 수 있는 토대가 될 수 있다. 논의의 전개를 위해 본고는 먼저 퍼포먼스 글쓰기의 역사적, 이론적 배경을 살펴보았다. 그리고 나서 기존 논의에 기대어 퍼포먼스 텍스트 구성을 위한 퍼포먼스 글쓰기의 실천적 전략을 재구성하여보았다. 퍼포먼스에서 수행성과 물질성은 퍼포먼스를 구성하는 두 가지 요소이다. 퍼포먼스 텍스트와 퍼포먼스 글쓰기를 구성하는데 수행성은 매우 유효한 방법론을 제시할 수 있다. 기존의 연구는 수행성에 관한 논의 메 머물러 있다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 퍼포먼스에서 물질적 측면 역시 매우 중요한 구성 요소이다. 퍼포먼스는 관객과의 지각적 소통을 활성화함으로써 발전하여 왔다고 할 수 있다. 퍼포먼스 텍스트를 구성하기 위한 전략은 그 같은 수행성과 물질성을 활성화시킴으로써 효율적일 수 있다. 퍼포먼스에서 수행성과 물질성이 발휘되며, 그 독특한 지형도를 나타내는 것은 공간, 언어, 몸성, 혼종적 꼴라쥬 등을 통해서이다. 이러한 텍스트성을 글쓰기로 계발하여 실천하는 것이 퍼포먼스 글쓰기가 나아가야 할 방향이라고 본다.
