언론보도 및 포털 빅데이터를 활용한 군 장병 복지에 관한 인식 연구 = Study on Perceptions of Military Personnel Welfare Using Media Reports and Portal Big Data

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국은 분단된 국가로 국방의 의무를 수행하는 군 장병 복지는 국민적 지대한 관심 사항이다. 본 연구는 한국 사회의 군 장병 복지에 관한 사회적 인식과 담론을 실증적으로 분석하여 군 장병 복지 정책의 시사점을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 다양한 사회적 논의와 담론을 담고 있는 최근 3년(2021년 1월 1일~2023년 12월 31일) 의 군 장병 복지에 관한 언론보도 및 포털 빅데이터 총 7,310건을 수집하였다. 텍스트마이닝과 사회연결망 분석을 활용한 연구 결과, 군 장병 복지와 관련된 인식과 담론은 정치적 측면과 선거 등의 공약 이슈로 중점적으로 다루어졌고 병역의무를 이행하는 병사에 관한 처우 개선과 경제적 측면에서의 관심사가 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 따라 군 장병 전체를 아우르는 균형적 측면에서의 장병 복지 발전의 필요성, 초급 간부 복지 정책과 직업군인 처우 및 인식 개선, 군 장병 복지 개선에 대한 적극적 지원 및 복무에 대한 사회적 보상 등이 요구되었다.

The welfare of military personnel performing national defense duties is of considerable public interest in South Korea. The aim of this study was to empirically analyze the social perceptions and discourses regarding the welfare of military personnel in South Korea, thereby offering implications for related policies. A total of 7,310 media reports and portal big data entries pertaining to military personnel welfare from the last three years (January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023) were collected. Through text mining and social network analysis, it was found that perceptions and discourses related to military personnel welfare were primarily addressed in political contexts and as issues within electoral pledges, with a noticeable focus on improving the treatment of soldiers fulfilling their military duties and their economic conditions. Based on the results, the study emphasizes the necessity for a balanced approach toward ensuring the welfare development of all military personnel, improvements in welfare policies for junior officers, better treatment and public perception of professional soldiers, and active support and social compensation for military service.
