Yongin is the second most distributed place in Gyeonggi-do after
Gwangju, where Joseon's official song was located. As a result of examining
the site of the Goryeo Dynasty in Yongin, the characteristics that are
notable features are as follows. First, large-scale self-catering was carried
out for a long time at a particular site. Second, it is believed that the
types and forms of porcelain produced in Yongin were very diverse, which
was responsible for the demand of various consumers. Third, a number
of complex production complexes that produce various types of products
are identified at one site. Fourth, unlike the magnetic production situation
produced in a small number of places in some regions, pottery has been
actively produced in all areas of Yongin since the mid-Goryeo period.
It seems that various factors played a role in the large-scale ceramics
of various types and characteristics during the Goryeo Dynasty were able
to be carried out in the Yongin area. Among them, the fact that a large-scale
magnetic field operated by the state was installed in the Surrey area in
the early Goryeo Dynasty, economic revitalization, cultural and
transportation routes in southern Gyeonggi Province, Yongin's economy
and culture developed as urbanization progressed, and military stability and successful regional defense.
Since the 2000s, it can be said that the foundation for regional ceramic
research has been formed as excavation surveys on Goryeo ceramic
production sites outside of Gangjin and Buan, the centers of Goryeo celadon
production, have been active. Analysis and consideration of individual
regions should be preceded for major research in the Goryeo region, and
this study is expected to serve as the starting point.
