This research verified an effect of an instructional adaptation targeting a fifth grade class in Busan Elementary School. In an art class, I investigated the effects of conception of inclusive education on students and a teacher, using instructional adaptations from activities, materials and strategies. Two disabled students from the class were analyzed by class participation and behavior, and conducted a survey to twenty four students before and after the program. Also, the teacher was analyzed by interview after the program.
The results of this research are the following:
First, the class participation of the disabled students increased and completed the work carrying out all the assignments, and awareness of inclusive education improved because class satisfaction increased by more frequent interaction with other classmates.
Second, according to the survey, inclusive art education applied by instructional adaptation affected the students of inclusive classroom positively on the conception of inclusive education.
Third, the class teacher certified the effect of the program, but didn’t affect much on the awareness of conception of inclusive education.
In conclusion, the research showed that inclusive lessons, helped by both normal teachers and special education teachers, are certainly needed for successful inclusive education.
