한국십진분류법 농학분야의 분류체계에 관한 연구 : 농학문헌의 분류사례분석을 중심으로 = (A) study on the classification system of agricultural field in KDC : Treating the analysis of classified cases on agricultural literature as its central issue

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리나라의 대표적인 분류표라고 할 수 있는 한국십진분류법(KDC)은 그 동안 세 차례의 분류표 개정작업이 있었지만 분류표의 실증적인 분석은 한번도 이루어지지 않았다고 할 수 있다. 즉, 분류간에 단편적인 비교연구는 있었지만 실제로 출판된 문헌을 대상으로 직접 분류표를 적용하여 분류를 함으로써 KDC의 문제점을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 새로이 수정전개안을 제시한 연구는 이루어지지 않았다. 그리고 최근에 개정된 KDC 4판(1996)도 막상 분류를 적용해보면 새로운 주제항목이 미비하거나 복합주제, 하위주제 항목의 부족 등으로 분류에 어려움이 많은 실정이다.
본 연구는 이러한 점을 감안하여 KDC를 대상으로 농학분야의 국내 출판문헌을 직접 분류표에 적용함으로써 분류항목 하나 하나에 대한 문제점을 분석하고 수정전개안을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다.
이를 위해 국립중앙도서관의 소장목록 데이터베이스 중 농학분야 문헌 약 5,400건에 KDC 4판을 직접 적용하여 문헌이 제시하는 주제의 일부분이라도 기호화되지 못한 문헌 약 800건 가운데 최종적으로 170건을 수집하여 이들을 유형별로 범주화하였다. 그 결과 복합주제가 기호화되지 못한 문헌은 90건, 하위주제가 기호화되지 못한 문헌은 51건, 복합주제와 하위주제가 동시에 분류 기호화되지 못한 문헌은 24건이었으며, 마지막으로 신주제가 분류 기호화되지 못한 문헌은 5건으로 나타났다.
위의 분석내용을 바탕으로 하여 분류 기호화되지 못한 복합주제, 하위주제, 신주제 등을 새로이 전개하여 KDC 농학분야의 수정전개안을 작성하였는데, 유형별 전개원칙을 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 복합주제를 기호화하기 위해서는 KDC 농학분야의 본표 안에서 합성지시를 통해 기호의 조합기법을 사용할 수 있도록 지시주를 첨가하였다.
둘째, 하위주제를 기호화하기 취해서는 문헌내의 출현빈도와 농학관련 문헌에서의 취급하는 중요성의 정도에 따라 새롭게 전개하거나 포함주를 설정하였다. 또한 검색된 관련 문헌이 없더라도 학문적인 체계 및 내용에 따라 추가되어야 할 하위주제도 위와 같은 절차에 따라 수정전개함을 원칙으로 하였다.
셋째, 신주제를 기호화하기 위해서는 하위주제와 동일한 전개원칙을 적용하여 항목과 주기를 새롭게 설정하였다.
이상과 같은 수정전개의 원칙을 통해 작성된 KDC 농학분야의 수정전개안은 가능한 KDC 제4판의 기본적인 분류체계와 항목을 따르고자 하였으므로 필요한 항목들에 있어서 주기의 첨가 및 최소한의 세분전개만을 포함하고 있다. 그러나 농학분야를 대상으로 하여 실제문헌의 분류사례분석을 통한 실증적 연구로는 처음 시도된 것인 만큼 향후 KDC 개정작업에 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Korean Decimal Classification may be considered as Korea's representative classification system. Although there were three revision works of classification system, positive analysis have not once been made. In others words, fragmentary comparative studies were done between classifications, but study presenting new revision and extension scheme analyzing the problems of KDC by directly applying and classifying classification system based on actual published literatures as the subject of study has never been done. Also, even with the latest revision of KDC 4th edition, it's difficult to make classifications should it be applied in reality since new subject items may be deficient or the items such as compound theme and subordinate theme may lack and etc.
This research takes theses factors into consideration, and the purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of classified items by directly applying the domestic literary publications of agriculture field one by one and to present revision and extension scheme having KDC as the subject of the study.
In order to do this, by directly applying KDC's 4th edition to the 5,400 literatures of agricultural field from the collection list database at the Public Central Library, I've sampled 170 literatures from 800 literatures those which even a part of their subjects haven't been symbolized as the literature's subject presents, and categorized them based on its material classifications. As a result, literatures without symbolized compound themes were 90, literatures without symbolized subordinate themes were 51 and literatures without symbolized both compound and subordinate themes were 24. And lastly, there were 5 literatures without symbolized new theme.
I came up with revision and extension scheme on KDC's agricultural field by newly unfolding compound, subordinate and new themes that haven't been symbolically classified based on the above analysis. Summary of the unfolding principles is illustrated below.
First, in order to symbolize compound theme, I've added indicating notes through synthetic notations inside the agriculture field of KDC's schedule so that compounding notations of symbols can be utilized.
Second, in order to symbolize subordinate theme, I've newly unfolded or set up including notes based on the frequency of its appearance within the literature and the degree of the treatment of its importance in agricultural field. In addition, even if there weren't any searches made on related literatures, subordinate themes that should be included according to its academic system and content have been revised and unfolded based on the process of above principle.
Third, in order to symbolize new theme, it followed the same unfolding principle as subordinate theme and I've set up new items and notes.
Revision and extension scheme of KDC's agricultural field that's been made based on the above unfolding principles tried to follow the basic classified systems and items of KDC 4th edition, if possible, and in terms of necessary items, it includes only the addition of notes and the minimum subdivided extension. However, this study will serve as the fundamental data for further works of KDC's revision as this is the first positive study done based on the analysis of case studies of actual literature having agriculture field as the subject of study.
