This study explores how traditional Japanese artists have attempted to preserve and pass on their traditional culture during the COVID-19 pandemic. After the spread of COVID-19, artists and performing groups have faced increasing economic burden. In addition, there is a sense of crisis about advancing the culture. Further, as there are fewer people manufacturing and repairing traditional musical instruments, the transmission of relevant technology has also become critical. To overcome these challenges, artists have diligently sought relevant countermeasures and solutions. For example, they now conduct online performances to reach a wider audience and sustain their art form. Thus, artists are seeking new ways to prevent the decline of their traditional culture and simultaneously obtain support from the government and private organizations for this purpose.
