Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify the impacts of various adolescent assets on safety consciousness. Specific adolescent assets include attention, grit, and cooperation. Methods Using the third year(2020) data of the Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) 2018, this research conducted hierarchical regression analysis to identify how adolescent inner assets, including attention, grit, and cooperation impact safety consciousness, controlling for other environmental and demographic influences such as family economic status, location, parents’ educational levels, adolescent gender, adolescent academic achievement, and parental safety consciousness, as well as, parent-child communication. The number of participants was 2,348 9 th graders. SPSS 24.0 program was used for all the analyses. Result The results of the current research are presented as follows. First, adolescent financial and physical environments including family economic status and location had barely affected adolescent safety consciousness. Second, parental influences, including time spent for parent-child communication and parents’ safety consciousness are positively related to adolescent safety consciousness even controlling for parents’ economic and educational status. Lastly, adolescent inner assets, including attention, grit, and cooperation positively affected safety consciousness above and beyond financial, physical, parental influences, as well as, adolescent academic achievement and gender. Conclusion Current research findings suggest that adolescent attention, grit, and cooperation all have emerged as very important variables that have positive impacts on adolescent safety consciousness. To improve adolescent safety consciousness, it is imperative to design educational curricula facilitating adolescent inner assets such as attention, grit, and cooperation.
