Based on the continuity theory and the social role theory of sex difference, the object of the study is to investigate whether support exchange with children shows the different effects on subjective wellbeing of elderly depending on gender. For the objective of the study, the author separated data by gender, and analyzed relationship between the support exchange with children and the subjective wellbeing of elderly in each gender, using Hallym Aging Panel Data(2 to 4 wave). The results are in following. First, the level of support exchange is different according to gender. As expected, female exchanges more than male does. Second, the female exchanges more in the care support and male exchanges more in the economic support. Third, in the female sample, level of support receive shows positive relationship with subjective wellbeing, and in the male sample, level of support give shows positive relationship with subjective wellbeing.
