김설원 소설의 모빌리티 재현과 로컬리즘의 표상 - 『내게는 홍시뿐이야』를 중심으로 = A Study on Reproduction of Mobility and Localism in Kim Seol-won’s Novel ─ focusing on 『I only have Persimmons』

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이글은 김설원 장편소설 『내게는 홍시뿐이야』를 대상으로 글로벌(Global) 자본의 유동성이 로컬(local) 공간의 변화에 중대한 영향을 미친다는 사실에 주목하여 ‘모빌리티(mobility)’ 관점으로 그 의미를 고찰하고자 하였다. 소설은 성장 서사를 표방하고 있으며, 행위자가 다중 공간 체험을 통해 사회인으로 성장하는 과정을 그린다. 이때 각각의 공간은 로컬에 기반하여 ‘로컬리티(locality)’ 인식을 요구한다. 행위자의 모빌리티는 지역 기반 산업의 와해가 원인으로 제시되고 있으나, 궁극적으로는 초국적 자본의 흐름과 맞물려있어 글로벌 경제 환경에 취약한 국가 산업위기, 지역 양극화, 지방소멸 시대라는 현실 문제를 소환한다. ‘글로벌리티(Globlity)’는 피해갈 수 없는 현실이며 주어진 미래다. 상대적 소외 국가, 소외지역의 취약계층은 생존을 위해 떠돌 수밖에 없는 구조다. ‘모빌리티’는 비자발적으로 행해지는 특성과 함께 어딘가 정착하려는 욕망을 배태하여 의미 체계상 정주주의와 상충하면서도 지향성을 드러낸다. 김설원 소설에 내재한 모빌리티와 로컬의 복잡한 상호작용을 새롭게 인식하려는 의도는 글로벌 환경의 취약성을 극복하는 데 문학이 구심점이 될 수 있다는 판단 때문이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines the significance of Kim Seol-won’s novel “I Only Have Persimmons” from the perspective of “mobility” by focusing on the fact that the fluidity of global capital has a significant impact on the changes in local space. The novel is a narrative of growth, and depicts the process in which the actor grows into a member of society through experiencing multiple spaces. At this time, each space demands the recognition of “locality” based on the local. The actor’s mobility is presented as the cause of the collapse of regional industries, but it is ultimately intertwined with the flow of transnational capital, summoning the real problems of a national industrial crisis, regional polarization, and an era of local extinction that are vulnerable to the global economic environment. “Globality” is an unavoidable environment and a given future. The vulnerable classes of relatively marginalized countries and marginalized regions have no choice but to wander in order to survive. “Mobility” is characterized by involuntary actions and the desire to settle down somewhere, and while it conflicts with sedentarism in terms of semantic system, it also reveals its orientation. The intention to newly recognize the complex interaction between mobility and locality inherent in Kim Seol-won's novels is due to the judgment that literature can serve as a focal point in overcoming the vulnerability of the global environment.
