국내 미디어교육 연구 경향에 관한 연구 = A Study on Domestic Research Trend of Media Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한글초록: 현재에 와서 미디어교육이 사회적으로 주목받으며 구체화되어가고 있는 시점에 있다. 이러한 때에 미디어교육의 방향을 올바로 설정할 수 있도록 그 간의 연구 경향을 분석하고 체계적으로 정리하여 연구의 토대를 만드는 것은 매우 의미있는 일이다. 이와 같은 목적으로 진행된 이번 연구는 우리나라 미디어교육에 관한 연구는 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지, 필요한 연구는 균형적으로 이루어지고 있는지를 알아보고, 향후 필요한 연구의 과제는 어떤 것인지를 제시해보고자 하였다. 이 연구를 수행하는 방법으로는 문헌연구와 내용분석의 방법을 사용하였다. 특히, ‘국내 미디어교육 연구의 경향’에 관해서는 그 연구가 아직 전무한 실정이다. 그러므로 본 연구를 수행하는 데 가장 핵심적이라고 할 수 있는 분석 유목을 설정하는 데 도움이 될만한 자료가 부족해 다소 어려움이 있었다. 이에 본 연구자는 미디어교육의 관련된 연구 논문을 수집하고, 그것들을 탐독한 후에 연구의 외형과 내형별로 구분지을 만한 의미있는 분석 유목을 직접 설정하였다. 대상 연구 논문은 국회도서관 학위논문자료 중 ‘미디어교육’과 ‘미디어 리터러시’로 검색한 결과와 학회지 논문 중 ‘미디어교육’과 ‘미디어 리터러시’로 검색한 결과물을 대상으로 하였다. 그 중에서 학회지는 등재후보 이상의 것만 연구 대상으로 삼았다. 그리하여 연구 기초사항을 비롯해 연구의 내용별로 총 11개의 분석유목이 설정하였으며, 각각의 분석 유목들은 일정한 기준을 가지고 분류하여 SPSS 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석과 교차 분석을 시도하였다. 연구 결과, 미디어교육에 관한 연구는 처음 소개된 1980년대 초를 기점으로 꾸준한 상승세를 타고 있으며, 연구의 내용도 점차 세분화되고, 구체적으로 변화하는 양상을 보이는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 한편, 제 7차 교육과정에 따라 교육 관련 분야에서도 미디어교육에 대한 관심을 많이 나타내는 것을 확인했다. 그러나 한 편으로는 미디어교육의 연구가 특정 방법과 특정 대상, 매체에 한정되어 있는 것도 확인된 만큼 더욱 폭넓은 연구를 해야 할 필요성이 제기되며, 함께 연구를 해야 할 주변 분야, 예를 들어 정책과 관련된 분야 등의 연구가 다소 미흡한 것이 아쉬움으로 남았다. 또한, 교육학 분야가 시도하는 연구가 ‘매체를 활용한 교육’으로 흐르는 경향이 있어서 미디어교육에 대한 전반적인 합의가 도출되어야 할 필요성을 제기하였다. 뿐만 아니라 대체로 특수대학원을 중심으로 연구가 진행되고 있었는데, 좀 더 심도깊은 학문적 연구를 위해 일반대학원의 관련 연구가 이루어져야 함을 시사했다. 따라서 이 연구를 통해 향후 연구를 위하여 학문적인 바탕을 위한 학위 과정의 개설, 서로 다른 전공 간 ‘미디어교육’에 대한 인식 합의, 다양한 대상을 포함하는 연구, 현실적인 주제 설정과 구체적인 방안을 제시하는 연구의 필요, 시의적절한 이슈를 활용한 학술지 연구 활동, 현재 수행되고 있는 미디어교육에 대한 객관적 평가가 필요함을 대안으로 제시하였다

영문초록: Attracting public attentions in the current society, media education is in the process of its embodiment. At this point, it is highly significant to analyze the previous research trends, organize them systematically and provide the research ground in order to set a desirable direction of the media education.Based on the above objective of this study, it aims to examine how the media education research is being conducted in Korea, whether the necessary research is conducted appropriately, and what other research tasks are necessary from now on.As for the method of this study, documents research and content analysis were used. There has been hardly any study on the domestic research trends of the media education. Thus, there was difficulty due to the lack of useful materials for setting the categories of analysis, which is the most critical element of conducting this study. The researcher of this study collected research theses related to media education, thoroughly read them and personally set the significant categories of analysis which are sufficient to classify external and internal categories of this study.The subjected research theses were obtained by entering the following key words in a search engine, 'media education' and 'media literacy' for academic periodicals, and degree theses in the National Assembly Library. Regarding the academic periodicals, articles above the registered reports were used as the material for this study. Accordingly, together with the basic research points, total 11 categories of analysis were determined based on the research content, each category of analysis was classified with a certain standard, and frequency analysis and cross analysis were made by SPSS statistics program. As a result of the study, it was found out that the number of researches on the media education in Korea has continuously increased since its introduction in the early 1980s, and the research contents tend to be more specialized and concrete. Meanwhile, there are more attentions on the media education in the education-related fields according to the 7th Curriculum. On the other hand, the researches on the media education are restricted to a specific method and specific subject and specific medium, so that a more diverse ranges of research should take place. In addition, the related fields of the media education, for example, the policy, are still insufficiently studied. Moreover, the research of the education field tends to focus on 'education using the medium,' thus, it is necessary to induce a general consensus for the media education. Researches are made mostly at the special graduate schools, however, the related research from the general graduate school should be made for a more profound academic research. Consequently, this study suggested the following alternative solutions for the future research: introducing a new degree course for the sound academic grounds, consensus of perception on the 'media education' among different academic disciplines, a comprehensive research which includes various objects, necessity to set a realistic subject and present a specific plan, research activities on academic periodicals which utilize timely issues, an objective evaluation of the media education which is currently being implemented
