조선후기 가집 연구의 시각과 해명 과제-18세기 후반~19세기 중반을 중심으로-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

18세기 후반～19세기 중반의 가집에 관한 연구는 상대적으로 부진하였다. 그러나 이 시기는 익명의 편찬자에 의해서 편집된 다수의 가집 ― 흥비부, 영언, 동가선, 고금가곡(집), 가보ꡕ 등 ― 이 존재한다. 이 시기의 가집을 살피지 않고서는 18세기 중반의 가집사와 19세기 후반 가집사의 전후 맥락을 온전히 파악할 수 없다. 다행히 최근 들어서 몇몇 연구자에 의하여 이 시기의 가집이 주목을 받기 시작했다. 하지만 독자적으로 연구를 진행한 탓에 각자의 연구 성과를 종합하는 단계로까지 나아가지 못하고 있다. 이 글에서는 18세기 후반～19세기 중반의 가집을 대상으로 한 최근의 연구 성과를 되짚어봄으로써 논점을 좀 더 분명히 하고, 앞으로의 가집 연구를 위해서 요구되는 시각과 해명 과제를 나름대로 제시해 보고자 한다. 그런데 이미 예상하는 바와 같이 이 시기의 가집에 대한 연구가 부진했던 만큼 본격적인 연구사 검토 또한 전혀 시도된 바가 없다. 그 사이 새로운 가집의 발굴과 소개가 활발하지 않았는데도 불구하고 기존의 해제를 넘어서는 연구 성과가 없었다는 것이 못내 아쉽다. 이 시기 가집 연구의 첫 번째 유형은 대교의 방식이다. 선후 가집과의 대조를 통하여 해당 가집의 특질을 해명한 것이다. 최근의 흥비부와 영언에 대한 연구가 바로 이러한 시각을 바탕으로 삼는다. 이 경우에는 노랫말의 변화와 악곡이 주요 관심사였다. 두 번째 유형은 일부 가집에서만 찾아볼 수 있는 특정 표지를 주목한 연구이다. 독특한 이해 방식이라든가 주관적 감상평을 기록함으로써 기존의 가집과 차별화된 면모를 보여주고 있는 가집이 상당수 존재한다. 그 밖에도 앞으로 해명할 부분이 적지 않아서 후속 연구를 통해 보완이 요구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Research on song books published between the late 18th century and the mid 19th century has not been carried out much. However, quite a few song books were produced by anonymous publishers in this period, which is just decades ahead of the late 19th century when Gagokwollyu gained huge popularity. In order to fully understand the history of song books in the mid 18th century and the late 19th century, examination of song books in this period should proceed. Fortunately, recently some researchers showed interest in song books in this period. However, as they had conducted research separately, their research outcomes had not been put together into a whole picture.Therefore, this study reviewed the results of recent studies on song books published between the late 18th century and the mid 19th century and presented a viewpoint needed in future research and tasks to be discussed. The following song books published in this period were examined: Heungbibu, Yeongeon, Donggaseon, Gabo, and Gogeumgagokjib. As expected from the lack of research on song books in this period, a full-scale examination or any attempt to examine the history of song books in this period had not been carried out. It is regretted that there had been little outstanding research outcome, though few song books were newly discovered and introduced in the meantime.The first type of research on song books in this period is characterized by contrast among song books. This type of research tried to explain the features of a song book by contrasting it with song books published before or after it. Recent studies on Heungbibu, and Yeongeon are good examples that took such approach. In this type, changes in the words of songs and songs themselves were main interests. The second type of research mostly deals with certain features found only in some song books. Quite a few song books differentiate themselves from other existing song books by taking an unique understanding method or adding the writer's subjective comment on the songs. Still, there are lots of things remained unexplained, thus further research needs to be carried out.
